The Prime Minister of India has initiated the launch of the 2nd phase of the Ujjwala Yojana in which the applicant may not provide any ration card or residential proof for LPG connections. The slogan of the Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana is a clean fuel, better life. The government has distributed over 50 million LPG connections to all the women belonging to below poverty line families.

The scheme main objective is to provide clean cooking fuel to poor households mainly in rural areas. The scheme will benefit all Household Women who are under the below poverty line. The scheme has provided over Free 14.2-kg LPG cylinders to families. The central government has announced a total budget of Rs. 8000 Cr for the scheme which will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1600/- per LPG connection. The time frame of the scheme is for three years, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The scheme was launched on 01st May 2016 and the last date to apply online for the scheme is 30th September 2020.

PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0

On 10th August the Prime Minister of India has launched the second phase of the scheme in which the applicant is not required to provide a ration card or any other residential proof to avail the LPG connection. Also, the scheme is more beneficial for women under the below poverty line. Under scheme 2.0 the central government will provide free refuelling of cylinders and free of interest gas stoves.

Steps for applying for the second phase of Ujjwala Yojana

Women under the below poverty line can apply for the scheme by visiting any nearby LPG gas agencies which come under the OMCs such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd etc. also, the applicant must be above 18 years of age and must possess a bank account.

  1. From any web browser search for the Ujjwala Yojana.
  2. The application form of the yojana will be opened on the screen.
  3. Fill in all the required details and information carefully.
  4. Carefully upload all the relevant documents as per the application form.
  5. After the successful submission of the application form, the LPG connection will be issued to the applicant from any OMCs.
  6. If the applicant opts for any EMI options, then the amount will be adjusted against the amount of refuelling.

Steps for registering for the Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana Online

  1. From any web browser search for the Ujjwala Yojana.
  2. Search and click on the link for the download form option on the homepage.
  3. Download and take a printout of the Ujjwala Application Form along with the KYC form.
  4. Carefully fill in all the required details and upload documents as per the application form.
  5. Submit the application form by visiting any nearest LPG centre, the applicant must carry documents like an Aadhar card, birth certificate, mobile number, ration card, bank account photocopy attached to the application form neatly.
  6. After the successful document verification by the official, the LPG connection will be issued to the applicant.

  2. Search and click on the link for the State-wise PMUY connections option on the homepage.
  3. The list for the state wise PMUY connections will now be displayed on the screen.
  4. Enter all the relevant details as per the application form.
  5. Submit the application form.

Documents required for applying for the Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana

  1. Applicants Aadhar card or Voter identity card.
  2. Below poverty line certificate issued by any government establishments.
  3. Passport size photograph of the applicant.
  4. Documents like Bank account, ration card, mobile number etc.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate applying for the scheme should be above 18 years of age.
  2. The candidate must be from rural areas of the society.
  3. The candidate must possess a BPL card.
